How NightStat counts
NightStat is a fan site that keeps score on picks the Nightcap hosts — Shannon Sharpe (Unc), Chad Ochocinco (Ocho) and Joe Johnson (Iso Joe) — make out loud on the show. It is not a betting product: no ads, no affiliate links, no odds, no bet buttons.
What counts as a pick
- A host clearly locks a side on a game that hasn’t been played yet (“I’m taking…”, “lock it in”).
- Each pick is graded win, loss, push, or pending until the game is final.
- PCT = wins ÷ (wins + losses). Pushes and pending picks don’t move it.
- The streak counts back from the newest graded pick and skips pushes.
What does not count
- Ad reads — sponsor segments and example props, promo codes included.
- Chat reads — a host reading a viewer’s pick or question.
- Final scores of games already played — talking about a result isn’t a pick.
- “Who starts” — lineup or depth-chart opinions.
- Leans — “I kinda like…” without locking. These are saved as leans & takes with the quote, shown on host and episode pages, and marked not counted.
- Moments where hosts talk over each other and we can’t tell who said it stay unassigned.
Side bets
When hosts bet each other, it’s tracked in units: the loser pays the winner the stake. Side bets are separate from the pick record.
The two crowns
- ♛ King of the Pod — best on-show pick PCT, with at least 5 decided picks. Ties share it.
- ♛ King of the Outside — most wins in Nightcap Outside events: bowling, golf, lawn games away from the show. The winner comes from what’s said on air; if nobody says, the video decides.
